RIDE SUNDAY, MOWGLI IN THE WILD AND #METOO

When I was very little I was a victim of sexual violence.

In a major way, it made me who I am today, and for that reason I am grateful. I am stronger for it, braver even. And allthough my path to healing from the abuse I suffered was riddled with deep sadness and grief, I am glad I walked those miles to the place of understanding I am in now.

So here I am a month out of starting my solo ride through Indonesia in conjunction with this year’s Ride Sunday and it seems everything has come full circle. Riding motorcycles was something that helped me get through a specific period of my life where I was dealing with the leftover residue of sexual violence. Riding empowered me, it introduced me to a community of people that cared for me, and it made me realize that I am stronger than I ever thought before. I am beyond stoked to use jumping on my bike on Ride Sunday as a vehicle to bring healing to others. Ride Sunday is being held all over the world on Sunday, June 3rd, and is a day when the motorcycling community unites globally for the love of riding and our passion of supporting those who need us.

So with that, I am super excited to have chosen RAINN, the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network to recieve the proceeds of my Ride Sunday campaign. RAINN is America’s largest anti-sexual violence organization. Join me in donating to RAINN as they work to prevent sexual violence, help survivors, and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.
